Leadership Scotts Bluff had a tremendous impact on me both professionally and personally. It changed my mindset on leadership to more of a service-oriented perspective. We had the opportunity as a class to deep-dive into many of the resources, economic sectors, and government entities in our community and learn how we can work together with those partners to make a difference. This year was a unique challenge for our class with COVID-19 hitting shortly before our big fundraising event (Hoops 4 Heroes), but we were able to pull together as a class and find creative and alternative ways to support our charities.

Leadership Scotts Bluff had been recommend to me several times in the past. As someone who is already actively involved in the community, I didn’t know how much more knowledge I could gain or relationships I would build from the program, nor if I had the time to commit. I am so thankful that I did and that my employer (Platte Valley Companies) saw the benefit of my participation. I am originally from the area, but the monthly sessions exposed me to different concepts and sectors than my “usual” bubble, as well as gave me the opportunity to view them through the eyes of those new to the community. Their perspective created a completely new value on our amazing Valley.

The experiences I have been able to participate in and the amazing people I have had the pleasure to meet has made this a memorable experience. Not only have I made lifelong friends and networked with community and state leaders, I have learned about community services and programs that I never knew existed. In our busy lives, it is very easy to have tunnel vision and forget about the things that make our area a wonderful place to live. Leadership Scotts Bluff has helped me broaden my perspective about our incredible community and helped me truly appreciate the hidden gem we have here in the Valley!
